The Okanagan has spent decades earning its reputation for wine — but the same land, water, and climate that make this valley one of Canada’s great wine regions also make it an exceptional place to eat. A growing number of restaurants across the Okanagan have built their entire identity around the 100-mile diet, sourcing ingredients from the orchards, gardens, and farms they’re often standing directly on top of. Here’s where to find a meal that genuinely couldn’t have come from anywhere else.

Miradoro at Tinhorn Creek

Experience: Mediterranean-inspired dining with panoramic views over the Golden Mile Bench.

Why Visit: Miradoro pairs sweeping views of Tinhorn Creek’s vineyards with a seasonal, sustainably sourced Mediterranean menu, much of it cooked in the estate’s own wood-fired forno oven. It’s the kind of restaurant where the scenery and the plate feel like they were designed together.

Perfect For:

A scenic lunch or dinner

● Mediterranean-inspired seasonal cooking

● Pairing a meal with a Golden Mile wine tour

Terroir Kitchen at Serendipity

Experience: A tiny, terroir-driven kitchen with an outsized reputation in Naramata.

Why Visit: Operating out of a compact 100-square-foot kitchen, Terroir turns out a globally-inspired menu sourced directly from Plot Twist Farms and Klippers Organics. The restaurant’s entire philosophy is built around letting the land dictate the menu, not the other way around.

Perfect For:

Naramata Bench exploring

● Diners who want hyper-local sourcing done seriously

● A smaller, more intimate dining room

The Terrace at Mission Hill

Experience: Garden-to-plate dining at one of the Okanagan’s most iconic wineries.

Why Visit: Executive Chef Patrick Gayler’s menu at The Terrace pulls ingredients directly from Mission Hill’s own estate grounds — including the property’s own beehives. Paired with the winery’s striking architecture and views, it’s one of the most complete farm-to-table experiences in the valley.

Perfect For:

● A special-occasion winery lunch

● Garden-driven, seasonal menus

● Pairing a meal with Mission Hill’s estate wines

Terrafina at Hester Creek

Experience: Tuscan-style dining among the vines on the Golden Mile Bench.

Why Visit: Terrafina’s kitchen draws heavily from a chef-planted garden right behind the restaurant, supplying much of what ends up on the menu. Combined with Hester Creek’s rustic, Tuscan-inspired setting, it’s a rare chance to eat a meal grown within walking distance of the table.

Perfect For:

● Italian-inspired, vineyard-set dining

● A romantic lunch or dinner

● Golden Mile wine touring

Row Fourteen at Klippers Organics

Experience: A restaurant built directly into the 14th row of a working organic apple orchard.

Why Visit: Row Fourteen doesn’t just source from the farm — it’s part of it. Set inside a

timbered building in Cawston, Chef Derek Gray’s menu draws on the orchard’s produce, wild-foraged ingredients, and even whole-animal butchery. Produce is often harvested less than 500 metres from the table it’s served at.

Perfect For:

The most literal farm-to-table experience in the region

● Adventurous, ingredient-driven cooking

● A day trip into the Similkameen Valley

Home Block at CedarCreek

Experience: Wine-first, wood-fired dining inside a working Okanagan Lake vineyard.

Why Visit: Home Block grows many of its own herbs and vegetables on-site, and every dish is built to pair with a specific CedarCreek estate wine. The wood-fired grill is fuelled by timber from local orchards — a small but telling detail that sums up the restaurant’s entire approach to sourcing.

Perfect For:

Wine-paired, hyper-local dining

● A scenic vineyard setting

● A wood-fired menu with real depth

Backyard Farm Chef’s Table

Experience: An intimate chef’s table set on a working two-acre orchard.

Why Visit: Backyard Farm barely qualifies as a restaurant in the traditional sense — and that’s exactly the point. Chef Chris Van Hooydonk designs every multi-course menu personally, working an open kitchen for up to 20 guests, using produce picked from the property just before service. It’s one of the most immersive local-food experiences in the entire Okanagan, and it books up nearly a year in advance during peak season.

Perfect For:

The ultimate farm-to-table experience

● Small groups and special occasions

● Diners willing to book well ahead

Why the 100-Mile Diet Matters in the Okanagan

The Okanagan’s climate and agricultural history make it uniquely suited to true farm-to-table dining — few regions in Canada can offer this kind of direct line between the orchard, the vineyard, and the plate. These restaurants aren’t following a trend; they’re building on land that’s been growing this food for generations.
